One man was killed and another was sent to the hospital after a crash in Isle of Wight County, Virginia (VA). The driver of a Ford pickup truck lost control and struck a Chevrolet Cavalier, killing the car’s driver.

Charges have not been filed against the pickup driver, who was badly injured, and police continue investigating how and why the crash occurred. Authorities say weather played a role.

The Virginia Wrongful Death Attorneys’ Perspective

The pickup truck’s driver needs to be held liable for his actions. Even if poor weather caused him to lose control, a man was killed. The victim’s family should consult with a Virginia wrongful death attorney to consider their options. No amount of compensation can ever truly console a grieving family, but it’s important to keep in mind the amount of income lost through the years. For example, attorneys with our firm handled a case in which a car was hit by a truck on I-264 in Norfolk, VA, and a young man lost his life when the car burst into flames. We were able to secure a $3.5 million settlement for the victim’s only surviving beneficiary.
