No matter how often they’re warned of the dangers of drunk driving, some people will throw caution to the wind and get behind the wheel after drinking too much. When they do, the consequences can be deadly.

This happened again in in Lynchburg, Virginia (VA), where a woman in an SUV slammed into a car making a left turn into an apartment complex on Timerlake Road. The men who lost their liver were both only 25 years old.

Police filed DUI and two separate DUI involuntary manslaughter charges against the at-fault driver.

You read this and just shake your head, asking, “What if the at-fault driver had given her keys to a friend? What if she called a taxi?” It’s frustrating to know two deaths could have been prevented if a driver had exercised basic caution.

Motorcycle-SUV Crash Kills One in West Virginia

A woman lost her life in a head-on collision between an SUV and a motorcycle on Sunday. The crash occurred in Putnam County, West Virginia (WV), on Route 35.

The driver of the SUV crossed over the center line, and the female rider died at the scene. A tractor-trailer also crashed while attempting to avoid the accident. The driver of the SUV was air-lifted to the hospital after being cut out of her vehicle.

It is unknown what caused the driver of the SUV to cross the center line. She may have been distracted, possibly by texting or talking on a cell phone, eating, drinking or simply not paying attention. At this time, we can only speculate, but regardless of the cause, it is undeniable that the driver of the SUV is responsible for the death of another human being.
